"Kali", 2001, 200 x 145 cm, Acrylic on canvas

Rakavija, a demon who was granted a wish by Brahma
that every drop of his blood that touched the ground
would make him 1000 times stronger until eventually he
challenged the Gods.
Kali had a solution to this problem which was to drink
the blood of her victim and so preventing Rakavija from
getting stronger.
However this sent her into an uncontrollable rage,
craving more flesh and blood she began an orgy of
killing , striking everyone in her path.
So Shiva lay down before her to pacify her, and the
picture shows Kali is shocked and embarassed to find
him at her feet.

canvas
"St Peters Gift", 2001, 350 x 146cm, Acrylic on canvas

Whilst travelling in Ecuador, I had the privilege of
taking part in Shamanic rituals involving a spiritual
medicine made from cooking the San Pedro cactus. The
Mayan people used it to excorcise malevolent spirits
and re - connect with the Earth. After a 12 hour
journey walking the Andes around Villcabamba I lost my
bearings as the Sun was setting. Slightly concerned I
walked in a direction I hoped would be correct when
two white horses appeared nearby and showed me the
right way back to town.
